Jacksonville Firefighter Video
Services Section
Video provided to JFRD.com is supplied by members of the
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Video Services Section.
This department, staffed by Jacksonville Firefighters and housed at the Jacksonville
Fire and Rescue Regional Training Academy, is recognized world wide for its
efforts in producing award winning training and documentation videos.
The JFRD Video Services Section is responsible for providing weekly training
via cable access to all 55 of Jacksonville’s fire stations and the 1,100
members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. This program, known
as Cable Access Training or “CATS”, is shown for free on public
television and serves as a great public relations tool for the public to learn
about the job done by Jacksonville’s Firefighters. The “CATS” show
is 60 minutes of varied fire fighting training and is aired eighteen times
a week.
The VSS also assists various city, county, state, and federal agencies with
all types of requests for audio and video footage. The unit uses full broadcast
equipment to capture real life incidents with the highest quality possible.
The JFRD VSS has hundreds of hours of stock documentary footage covering everything
from multiple alarm fires to major car accidents to various training exercises.
Their units can be seen racing all over Jacksonville to cover the next big
emergency.
