Jacksonville Fire Fighters Launch Day Planner to Benefit the March of Dimes

  Jacksonville Fire Fighters have introduced a new day planner that they hope will raise money for the Jacksonville March of Dimes.

  The Jacksonville Fire Fighter Day Planner comes complete with a 12 month calendar, as well as pages for notes and contacts.  The day planner will also feature historical tidbits on the history of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department as well as exciting photos from major incidents in Jacksonville.

  The planner will feature the color coded shifts for fire fighters but will be a great addition for anyone who is very busy.

  Each day planner sells for $10.  All proceeds from the sales of the planner will benefit the March of Dimes, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for premature births, birth defects, and low birth weight.

Jacksonville Firefighters Launch “Vial of Life” Program

Jacksonville Firefighters are now introducing a new plan to aid them in the treatment of the citizens they serve.
The “Vial of Life” flyer is simply an informational sheet you can download off the Jacksonville Firefighters Local 122 web site, www.jfrd.com. This form leaves spaces for people to fill in their names, past medical history, medicines you currently take, and anything you are allergic to. These are vital questions that go answered when firefighters are trying to treat someone who is unable to communicate with rescue personnel.
The “Vial of Life” campaign benefits firefighters and the public greatly in that a higher level of life saving treatment can be rendered during emergencies. Many times, firefighters arrive on scene to find someone unconscious and not breathing. They have no way of obtaining any information. They do not know if the patient is allergic to anything or what medicines they are on.
By printing the new flyer and filling out, you are taking the first crucial step in what could be a life saving move. Simply fill out the form and leave it with your medicines or in a place where it would be noticed by responding firefighters. Upon arrival to an emergency scene, firefighters can read the flyer that was placed with your medicines and treat you accordingly.
